I think the article makes some very valid points about the wireline business and the possibility that wireless will start seeing a saturation point.

Bell labs was responsible for a lot of innovation and I'm sure it's disappointing to see the funding die so dramatically. I don't think he's saying that the technology side isn't innovative or visionary. It's the regulatory side that has tunnel vision and I agree that we've got too many people looking out for their own ends instead of what's really going to be "right" for the masses in the future. The days of $1000/month T1 lines are over and the 98% profit margins that went with those prices are history. Much of that money was funneled into Bell labs and, as we see with any downturn, it's the R+D areas that are often hit the hardest.

As for the implications on NT stock, I don't think they are that big. The AT+Ts of this world, they are the ones who are suffering the worst of it, not NT. NT's seen the worst of their bad patch but I'm not sure the same can be said for T, MCI and others.

NT to 15+ by Jan 1 works for me!
