lorne,

What you are confronting is a group of individuals who have staked out a series of positions that they will die defending. These positions have a logic based on the situation of winter 2003-2004. Their mistake is that the election is next November. For their stategy to succeed they need misery in America. How can one like that sleep at night?

Bushies knew there MIGHT not be any WMD's anymore as they had never found any evidence that such weapons still existed. Therefore, they either believed what they wanted to believe, or just spun the whole thing into a crass dishonest false advertising campaign.

The worst part was they never stopped and thought about what they'd do once they took over Iraq. Invasion after all was the easy part and they knew it would would be. This absence of advance planning more than anything will now cost us dearly. Their lies to the world have also cost us a lot of credibility and national prestige. We are not the leaders anymore, we are a country apart, a big renegade nation. All for what? So the Texans could take over the oilfields at tax-payer expense?
