2 US States to Lift Poultry Ban

Agriculture officials in the U.S. states of Maryland and Delaware have announced they will lift bans on poultry now that a month has passed since their last cases of bird flu.
The states say beginning Monday, their poultry industries will be able to resume handling live birds.

Many countries have banned imports of some or all U.S. poultry products since a strain of bird flu, or avian influenza, was first detected in recent months.

The strain in the United States was different than the one that infected flocks across Asia and infected humans, killing at least 23 people.
