In Mark Twain's day, con men and charaltans wore colorful jackets, drove painted wagons, and sold snake oil and Indian whiskey to the rural plowboys and rubes. In OUR day, the con men and charlatans hang PhD's on the wall, publish in "academic" journals, and sell global warming, acid rain, and "the earth is in danger from man" to the URBAN plowboys and rubes.
