I doubt that yours is a very meaningful line of argument, Jacob. One can always "go back" in time, take a bunch of could'a would'as... briskly prevent a depression, re-configure a world war... and claim that history could be different - and better.

Here is a more relevant puzzle for you: How do we convince the world's Muslims to stop flirting with their extremist element? Nothing good will come from it. If (IF) we succeed, future generations will be grateful. In any case, there would be a better chance that there WILL BE future generations

Let me get back to you on the Cold War subject, which I find to be most fascinating in the context of this discussion. I have other obligations at this time, but I'd like to get back to it.
