First movie to come out of Afghanistan titled :" Osama " ...profoundly moving ...of life under The Taliban . one young girls brave struggle to survive by posing as a young boy . Also to save her family as well , this young actress Marina Golbahari is affectless -hauntingly so- as youngster who is ill~equiped for deceit . In Dari with subtitles , its a film worth seeing and glad it was made . The film's director Siddiq Barmac doesn't isolate oppressive acts as much as show them in the fabric of daily life.The horrors of the film are pervasive , not acute so it takes longer for them to sink in....and they stay with you a long while afterwords. Winner of two awards at the 2003 Cannes Film Fest , Toronto Film Fest , AFI Fest , and Telluride Festivals , beautifully done movie ....trailer & review here: thezreview.co.uk Thanks for those poetry cyberlinks , great site .
