The points you bring up are discussed magnificently by Michael Crichton in two lectures he gave this last year. I posted them here as "must reading." They are both here - Message 19582173, and here - Message 19632664 . This lecture on the Media is also excellent. Message 19649385 Note where and to whom they are given. His exposition on "group think," by scientists is as good as any I have every read. If you know his BG, you know he is certainly well qualified to give them. Since you are interested in this subject, I am sure you will enjoy giving them a read.
