absolutely. even in the days of dual inline packages where you could see that all pins were where they were supposed to be, you had to be very careful to apply even pressure on the chip to seat it. and the zip sockets are so nice; you just drop the cpu in, jiggle a little bit if it doesn't go in otherwise you remove it and try again. i think it's insane to have a 1000 pin device with force-fit insertion no matter where the pins are.
