Berkeley is very liberal..........no question about it.

Danville is probably one of the richest areas in the nation...........the Blackhawk development is owned by the upper crust social register types or the new rich that they don't trust. The average home price in Blackhawk ( Danville) is probably way up there. A car dealership where I live was almost bought by one of the developers of Blackhawk for his son..............GM turned them down cause he was too rich and they were afraid he would buy up many more dealerships and create a powerhouse monopoly.

ALthough the average income in Danville is proportionately askew from the average Ca town they did elect a Dem. Ca. Senator. Contra Costa CO. is notorious for supporting the GOP, but they do vote for the Democrat at times so there are some swing voters living there. Tauscher is the Dem. Federal Representative from a section of the Co. but I am not sure if Danville is in her area.

Longandshort was making a statement as if all people from Ca are super liberal which is false. There are many areas that are quite conservative and much of our state gov't has been represented by the GOP. Over the years I have lived here it has been about 50/50. Much of the nation has a false outlook of the politics here in Ca. As liberal as Berkeley is, there are highly conservative areas in the central valley that offset them..............and then there is Orange Co and San Diego. This state is highly diversified and probably has many independent voters..
