Sorry Poet, I don't know what you would call it. The fetus was doing just fine the day before the ultrasound. The heart beat was strong and everything else was normal. There was no deformity. The baby strangled himself with his own umbilical cord.

What very likely happened was the doctor must have pressured the stomach to make sure the fetus was in the right position. In doing so either the fetus moved and wrapped himself around the umbilical, or the doctor's massaging of the stomach might have caused the fetus to move. Either way, it was a healthy baby that unfortunately died following that check-up.
