Decades After First Refugees, Readying for More Hmong

I have attended a coupla meetings with the primary NGO approved by the State Department to handle this.

15,000 Hmong tribesman have been approved for immigration.
500 are coming to NC. Initial plan is to settle them around Hickory about 100 miles West of the main Montagnard settlement in Greensboro.

Lutheran Family Services, refugee resettlement, is playing a large role in this one. The Lutheran College, Lenoir-Rhyne is located in Hickory. Should be a good match.

To my knowledge, none have been identified as SF or SF supporters. I do not anticipate having a role in this one.

I have not yet asked my contacts there, but I would expect Catholic Social Services, Hebrew Immigrant Aid, and Episcopal Immigrant Aid (and possibly World Relief) to assist too.

I have been trying to get a handle on needs. My buddy, John Grove, from the ACA McCoskrie/Threshold Foundation.

aircommando.net,

told me the Air Commando Assn. (ACA) warehouses in Florida are full of likely needed items. They would bring the stuff anywhere needed if asked. John and ACA sent us a check last week to support the Montagnard farm we have going here.

After 18 years of personal involvement, I must admit I luv this volunteer work. It is a side of Special Operations few are familiar with.
