I want to add another perception. And it's this -- I sense that people are beginning to turn angry and even nasty about the world around them. I see Donald Trump and his "Apprentice" program on TV, and people love it when Trump looks at some poor participant and snaps -- "You're fired." Yeah, it's really a sweet touch. And then I see people gloat and rub their hands as Martha Stewart is convicted. Sweet. Then I look at the really nasty comments coming from both Bush and Kerry as they confront each other. And I wonder, can they keep up this mud-slinging until November? Ugh, it's disgusting. What about the issues? And I'm thinking, what happens if the Dow breaks below 10000 and heads down from there? And what happens if people start taking big hits on their stocks -- and even on the price of their homes? What happens if unemployment heads higher? It could get down and dirty. I sense we're on the very edge of that now. I just don't get a feeling that this is going to be a pleasant bear market. And the pain hasn't even started yet.> And: <March 31, 2004 -- Who said life is fair? Martha Stewart hurts nobody, is convicted, and may get jail time. Dennis Kozkowski and Mark Swartz spend $600 million of Tyco stockholders' money and now face a hung jury. The lone holdout on the jury is a 79 year retired lady school-teacher and lawyer (who some say gave Koslowski an "OK" sign last week). Next case -- Is Donald Trump immune to shame? While he's firing people left and right on his wildly popular TV program, "The Apprentice," his casino empire in New Jersey is facing possible bankruptcy. Happily, Trumps casinos have no connection with the Trump real estate holding in NYC. Pssst, Donald -- "You're fired!"> It seems a witchhunt mentality will take over. Eccentric women over 40 make prime targets. SOB's with no scrupples are a harder game.
