Thought you might like to read the note I wrote to my family and friends. XXXXXXXXXXXXX ============================================================== Friends and Family, You know the "peace keeping" casualties have now exceeded 600. Living where we do, it's not uncommon that they report that they are from Camp Pendelton or Mira Mar or from one of the Navy Battle Groups from San Diego. But not being "Military oriented" there is a detachment and the 600 is "just a number". Last week that changed for me. You may have read about - and later seen on the news (it was on "Inside Edition")- the four civilians that were ambushed in Iraq, dismembered, dragged through the streets and hung in effigy. It turns out XXXXXX and I had met one of those four men, Scott Helvenston. He was not a really "friend" - we'd met him at a seminar four years ago - but he'd left lasting enough impression on us that we immediately recognized him in the news. He was a a good looking guy, a Navy SEAL, he'd trained Demi Moore for her role in GI Jane and lots of other interesting and honorable things. Keep your family and friends close and don't ever let them get in a position where they need to go to Iraq or anyplace because they need a few bucks.
