Great detail about the EU "investigation" of whether Arafat had used EU money for terrorism. True, they agreed, the IDF had provided them with Arafat's signed payment authorizations for terrorism, but since they were not provided with the matching documents from the PA Finance Ministry showing that these amounts had been paid, the evidence didn't count.

Isn't that just swell?

During their investigation parliamentarians heard from the IDF, which argued that EU money was indeed used for terrorism and the PA Finance Minister who denied it.

Both reports focused in part on Arafat's financial transactions. The majority report noted that the IDF was making an assumption that because evidence existed showing that Arafat has authorized financial payments which could have been used for terrorism, that the money did indeed go to that purpose. But evidence proofing [sic] that action was taken on Arafat's financial orders was lacking, said the majority report.

The other classic along those lines is the one about dead demagogues being "worse" dead than alive.

We were treated to a round of that nonsense going into Afghanistan if I recall. I don't buy it myself since it's rare that another one of the same ability comes along to fill their shoes. Far better to eliminate the people at the heads of these organizations if possible.
