I suspect a civil war, Shia against everyone else...

it may or may be a civil war but it is also Shiite against Shiite. the radical vs those who are for reform. I do not see this as Shia against everyone else. There are two powers fighting one for democracy and one for individual power. This fight is going on within Shiite as well.

Chuck, you may be right in saying that we're not fighting the Iraqi street yet, but be alert. All it takes is a few words from the clerics and we'll be fighting masses of chanting, rioting, ak-47 wielding, rpg firing people that our soldiers thought we were there to "help." I suspect we'll also be hearing from the Bush political folks placed in charge of media relations. They'll tell us how the media doesn't portray the "good" news and let us know that we put another few million into building schools. And Rome burns while we fiddle.

As to the rest of your post; you're right. That's why we shouldn't have bet the farm on a sucker bet. Bush will have a lot to answer for when history looks at the wisdom of his tooth-fairy adventure to secure control of Iraqi oil.
