lorne, the challenge for our military is to get to these terrorists without taking innocent lives. The terrorists do use innocent people as human shield. But if we want to preserve our image as a civilized society, we cannot fall into the trap set by the terrorists and abandon our values. We set a very high priority for innocent lives and the terrorists do not.

One way to do get to the terrorists without harming innocent lives is to use police intelligence to flush the terrorists out. The Mukhbaraat was successful under Saddam. Why not the US secret police force of Paul Bremmer?
If he does not have one, then I think he should consider doing so soon and take a cue from the Kerry campaign.
