Each TOU complaint will be investigated and acted upon as deemed warranted.

That is very vague.

My question is a bit more specific and I would appreciate a direct answer - Are direct personal attacks grounds for banning SI members?

This should be clear enough. Either direct personal attacks, including insults, are offenses that warrant a ban, or they are not.

The "investigation" and "acting upon as deemed warranted" can be on whether or not the post constitutes a direct personal attack. It cannot be on the principle of what crime warrants banning.

Assuming, of course, that the principle remains unchanged for different posters as well as posters and administrators.

there's nothing to be gained by rehashing the events leading up to and including this weekend

I beg to disagree. We are clients here and some of us has been thrown out on their nose. The rest of us would like to know why, since their behaviour does not seem to be singularly egregious, so that we will take care not to commit those crimes.

So, if you don't mind:

(1) What exactly was the crime for which these posters were banned? (Insults? Direct personal attacks?)
(2) Are you going to ban other perpetrators of these crimes? Or are there different standards for different SI members?

I am sure there are more interesting matters awaiting your attention, but administrative questions of paying clients of this website should perhaps have priority for an administrator over posting on economics threads for pleasure.
