08:13 FDRY Foundry Ntwks, Cisco and Nortel highlighted as potential Air Force contract beneficiaries (17.32 )

BofA Sec out with a note saying the Air Force has issued its Network-Centric Solutions 205 page RFP, nicknamed NETCENTS. According to the firm, it's a back-end weighted 5-year deal valued at up to $9B that they believe could be extended to $20B over 10 years. More so than Gig-BE, NETCENTS is very heavily focused on VoIP, enterprise and campus Ethernet applications. While it remains unclear how much of the contract is earmarked for communications equipment, the firm believes this can provide a catalyst for the Data Networking & Wireline Equipment group. While they don't expect the contract awards to be made until September, or even after, they believe that Cisco Systems (CSCO), Nortel (NT) and potentially Foundry Networks (FDRY) could be three of the seven contract winners. Also, in a separate note the firm notes they see the weakness in FDRY as a buying
