11:16AM Lehman thinks SBC will top Q1 forecasts (SBC) by Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Analyst Blake Bath at Lehman Bros. believes SBC Communications' (SBC) first-quarter results will be stronger than expected due to improvement in both its wireline and wireless businesses, stable margins and aggressive customer retention and acquisition. The telecommunications provider's stock was trading up 30 cents, or 1.2 percent, at $25.17, and was the biggest percentage gainer among Dow industrials components. Bath reiterated his "overweight" rating and $30 price target. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call currently expect the company to earn 32 cents a share on revenue of $12.4 billion, on average, in the first quarter.
