That would seem to rule out an exclusively material view of reality.

There may be more outside our universe, but we, and our form, and our environment, and our memories and ideas all have origins and residence within this universe. Whatever mechanisms or transports that might exist must also be compatible with the universe we have.

No set of information can remain static, it may be copied or corrected and therefore remain valid, but the process leaves a trail of redundancy. It's not just the mechanism that is missing, the information that is our present is not building the necessary redundancy and is therefore, in a sense, being forgotten.
