energyplay, I did. I accumulatively stayed in L.A. for 5+ months from late 1980s. I have an aunt and several cousins there. And I went to San Francisco and San Diego a couple of times. San Francisco is quite friendly, tolerable, and diversified (comparable to Toronto<g>), San Diego and LA seems a little racial segregated<g>

But generally speaking, the big cities on west coast are all more "melting" comparing with big cities in east/midwest/south.
