Steve, I did some digging. What I found supports your claim that the system is sound for the next 30 years assuming the debts are paid. I then accept your logic that they should be paid. Further, I fully expect the world to be so different in 30 years that projections past that point are meaningless. The question of how we should spend our federal assistance dollars is a separate issue. I fundamentally believe the needy need more and that the many don't need SS at all. The current power and greed of the senior citizen lobbies is a separate issue. How's that.
