S. Korea is a small peanut of country. Europe was a whole continent. There is a big difference.

A difference of scale is not a difference in direction. Both Europe and S. Korea where a burden on us during and after the wars (WWII and the Korean War), the net result of out intervening in both cases was eventually positive for the US. The positive and the negative where both greater in Europe because Europe is bigger.
