I have a good friend with a Ph.D. in physics from Yale. He was on a doctoral committee for a psychology grad student who thought she was using "chaos theory" in her dissertation. He suggested that she ought to know something about chaos theory if she was going to do that. The Psychology Dept had my friend quietly removed from her committee.

wouldn't have been such a flap if he had submitted it to the Journal of Irreproducible Results....<g>

being remembered for a hoax perpetrated on the illiterati isn't necessarily the way I'd want my career punctuated...no matter how high minded it might have seemed. Maybe a meta-analysis of trash in the literature would have served the same purpose or maybe he's just a playful guy.anyway I'll get the book.
