AC, I imagine you only got here following my link from BBR so you won't know I'm not exactly a raving fan of the Canadian health care system either. Simply put between the US and us I see ours as the lesser of two evils. Neither is great from my perspective and so you know health care is one of two areas where I believe in as much universality as possible.

As far as statistical noise though considering Canada spends about half per capita on healthcare it would seem a little more efficient at getting the care more evenly distributed... but yeah ours ain't great either...

On Brazil (unless you are baiting our pal elmat here ;o) Telling the entire story reveals that Brazil only spends 320$ per capita on healthcare (only .08 of US) while having an infant mortality ratio of only 4.75 that of the US..

OTOH I realise that infant mortality rate is not he only gauge and depending on the goal of the healthcare system may be of little import.. Sure the US healthcare system produces some amazing things, likely more so than anywhere else on the planet.. and if you got the cash great...as a matter of fact Canucks with bucks go south all the time.. We get ads for MRIs for example up here... Got Cash ? then no waiting...

Actually you introduced the capitalism and likely we have a philosophical difference on healtcare in that vein and therefore our ideas of what makes a healthcare system good will differ...
