Re: Maybe it is. I prefer to suspect stupidity. It could be planned, but the odds are against it,

Could be planned? Surely you jest......

The odds look different after you've taken the time to do the research. The body of evidence is overwhelming, and I haven't even got good access to Department of Death documents, the internal planning documents of PNAC or the correspondence of the JINSA Vulcans.

In fact, I'll give you 100:1 odds that what we are seeing going on in Iraq is being deliberately provoked by Bremer and his schemers. There's absolutely nothing random or arbitrarily stupid about the deliberate provocation of Moqtada al-Sadr by the U.S. decisions to arrest al-Sadr's main deputy and force the suspension of the publication of his newspaper al Harwa.

Those are completely deliberate. As was the decision to lie to the public and the Congress about WMDs and the silly notion that we'd be greeted as "liberators" with flowers and smiles. Rumsfeld knew precisely the reaction that the British occupiers got in the early 1920s, and he deliberately lied to us about what to expect after the occupation began.

There's absolutely nothing naive about the Bushies. There's everything sinister about them.

A lot of younger adults have not bothered to register to vote. This might get them off their inertia:
