I'll be 80 in a two weeks, and I would not be here today except for having been in the service.

But an injured serviceman today reminds me of my own great good fortune from having served.
It paid for my college education, it paid for my flying lessons, it paid for my $10k life insurance still in force, It resulted in the jobs I desired, working on airplanes and missiles, it permitted me to buy my first house, it kept me alive by providing an extremely expensive drug called Adriamycin to cure my cancer , it paid for $20k of dental work. The list continues.

How serious is the wound.? The one that affects the mind is most serious.
How about that Evil Knievil, broke every bone in his body. How about those quarterbacks who destroy their knees?
How about Bob Dole? Read his history.

To answer your question. It makes me sorry I never contributed enough to the VA hospitals or the people who work or live there.
