I am afraid from the Marine casualties that they are performing too many frontal assaults

LB,
The Marine casualties seem grim only if you listen to the news.

12 Marines is a terrible loss. But perspective is needed here. It is one rifle squad. Less than one 15 man USMC recon squad. One fourth of a platoon, one sixteenth of a rifle company. It is .00048 of the MEU in that AO.

It is a fraction of the casualties inflicted according to back channel reports.

This is not indicative of a careless frontal assault much less several. It will barely get a mention, if that, in the history of the USMC.
