You're so ridiculous I should just let you hang there twisting, twisting in the wind, but I guess I'll point a few things out in case there's anyone, even one single person, who read this and believed it was as you claim, “slang that is not black to [you]”. Well it isn't. It is a version of English that has been shaped by the cultural experiences of both blacks and whites. Blacks have crafted it and it now stands in the public domain as a gift for any who could use it. That’s a perfect display of Pilch dishonesty...You made it up, Pilch. I did not. When you claim I am "distorting and mocking the language-culture of so many people who have black 'feature sets'", you are actually declaring a racial partition between me and certain sounds, a partition that you do not claim exists with blacks. That is flatly racist. What I said, was this: No loving father of a black child would have written those racist posts distorting and mocking the language-culture of so many people who have black "feature sets" (you ludicrous parody of a scholar)… Not "parodying" a scholar. I am trying to be accurate for a closed and racist mind. They are feature sets because no single one of them can be said to belong to any single human group. Claiming this guy billbruford.com has "black" lips is just stupid when the white guy is staring you in the face-- and yet this sort of utter nonsense is exactly the sort of thing you are doing here with language. You are a racist and are unaware of it (which in many ways is the worst sort of racism.) In public, Pilch, do you speak to, or in front of, your purported black son in that distorted parody of a black-American dialect? Never really thought about it. The point of this particular dialect is its celebration, not mere technical communicaton. Humor and the way in which one might use it to deliver a kind but cutting jab at another is very unique to the dialect. So speaking generally in public using it doesn't work because of the lack of context. Nevertheless, I, with all of my boys together, when we are hunting or fishing, have been known to ocassionally throw this language endearingly. My boys have all done it at some point to each other, just as they have used "standard" English to joke with each other. There are aspects of this dialect that allow access to celebration that is very hard to get elsewhere. The point is not the dialect itself, but the tremendous efficiency, humor, bite and multiple levels of contradictions it employs. It is just an amazing thing. As in, "Dang, you whinin' to Marse? Dem po fokes spittin’ out dem babies ain wastin’ my money.…you DEFINEY be saying stupid mess every time you open yo mouf.” ? Of course you've simply dishonorably used the quote above out of its context. Here I was bitterly attacking a leftist, so I certainly would not do this as a matter of course. This dialect, in allowing the reader to feign ignorance, can be used in a tremendously ridiculing and cutting assault. Do you do it, for example, when you are together at church functions? Well, it can also be is a thing of tremendous warmth, something to be shared only with good friends. Go to a "black" church and you will not see it done there generally. The pastor will not do it and neither will anyone else. But take those same blacks and put them in context of warm fellowship, and you may well see it there. I certainly have, very many times. It is not a thing I typically employ because my social context does not usually allow it. But in some rare occasions I do find myself in position to share it, and at those times I do. Does he find this practice joyfully playful? Do your fellow church members, hearing the white adoptive father speak so to his black son, find it joyful and playful? Does it get big laughs? It would not make sense to employ it in that context. Just as it would not make any sense to employ Latin or Creole or Spanish. The point of the dialect is not mere technical communication. It is, most importantly a celebration via language. To help you open your racist mind here, consider that it does not make sense to dance through the church's front door each Sunday. The context does not permit it. But in other contexts dancing makes quite a lot of sense and should be enjoyed. I am dancing via language, via this particular dialect. I don't do it commonly, but when the context is right, it is a very fun time. I have danced here to have exactly this sort of conversation about it. I wanted to say these things to expose leftist racism. Does your black son indulge in that parody dialect, too, among your white friends? Depends upon the context. It is not a parody. It is a literal celebration via language, harkening back through many centuries of celebrations by groups of people who share a certain set of features. I am now enjoying their language, just as I have enjoyed their food and music. In fact, it is not just theirs. It is mine. What a dirty piece of work you are. Being called dirty by a racist has never had much currency in any place that matters.
