So you're saying that the Bush Administration should
never have mentioned OBL's name and/or should
never have mounted the Afghanistan campaign because
if we're successful in squashing OBL, that will
just make him a martyr and inspire more terrorists?

Is that it?

Just to recap for a moment.

1. AS says that the Iraq situation is breeding
more terrorists, but hasn't really explained how
it is that OBL and his merry band of terrorists
became so full of hatred that they plotted and
executed 9/11 before both the Bush Administration and
the invasion of Iraq;
2. Patricia says that the US "created" OBL
because the CIA trained him and his band during
the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan,
but hasn't yet explained how such training
provoked 9/11;;
3. Richard Clarke says that he briefed the
Administration about OBL and Al Qaida before
9/11 but that no one took up the mantle, and
while following all his advice might not have
prevented 9/11, it coulda helped (in other words,
he criticized the Bush Administration for not
going after OBL BEFORE 9/11 and has been gleefully
jpoined in this assessment by Democrats and liberal
media outlets):
4. Now you're saying that all this terrorism is
Bush's fault because we should have kept mum
about OBL, for fear that being successful in hunting
him down will make him a martyr and then increase terrorism.

The real answer is that these terrorists are fueled
by irrational hatred of the United States and just
ignoring them won't cut it. It is my personal belief
that you can only deal with such people from a position
of strength and cannot be perceived as even one bit wimpy
about it. That appears to be all they understand.

I know there are people who will pipe up and say that they're all victims, it's our fault they're in bad
straits, etc. etc. etc.

Guess what? The Middle East has been in turmoil
for centuries. The root of their problems
does not lie in the West.
