After a night of partying, Ted Kennedy drove a car off a bridge on Chappaquidick island with a young woman inside. He got out - she drowned. He left her there. He left Chappaquidick island, in fact, and went back to his motel on the mainland. He didn't report the incident to authorities till midmorning the next day (10 hours after it happened). In the meantime, he made 17 phone calls from his motel room, apparently trying to set up an alibi.

for picking up a young girl while he was drunk. and driving off a bridge, that was as straight as an arrow. and drowning the girl while saving himself. After saving himself he wants past a house with a light on and does not go in to get help but continues on to his own place and his support group on how to handle the situation. he doesn't report the accident until the morning.

He should have been arrested for drunk driving and manslaughter. He should have gotten time in jail. Instead his handlers took care of teddy. One of his advisors even suggested to Teddy that resigned from the senate for a few years and maybe run again later.
