Actually, I'm sure the fix is just a matter of getting a much longer patch cable to go from her machine to the router. As it is, the signal has a very substantial brick fireplace in its way in addition to a fair amount of distance.

Or maybe not. We're using a 54G network at the office but if I'm not careful, I sometimes end up on a neighbor's 11b network, despite the fact that both of us are in brick buildings. But my machine is close to a window and his might be as well.
