If you see people behaving in what appears to be an irrational way, do not automatically assume that they are irrational. Consider the possibility that there is something in the picture that you aren't seeing. That something may still be something rational to them, but completely irrational to you. If you buy into any one of the bazillion conspiracy theories dominating the Mideast, a great deal of irrational and self-destructive behavior suddenly looks like a good idea.
