do you put every person who we talked to who worked for saddam programs into protective custody. If that's what it takes, although that would seem to be overkill. It is not in our best interests to set up Iraqis who talk to us as targets for assassination. It's also not in our best interests to stand by while assassins drain the Iraqi talent pool and reduce the ratio of Iraqi professionals to gunmen. It's also not in our interests to have people who might, after all, know something valuable silenced. John, I'm not trying to argue the incompetence side of this story, only to argue that the alleged suppression of the story for partisan purposes isn't all that obvious. The story could bite either way.
