Alan Colmes is more of a centrist than what I consider a liberal.

Liberal is an ill defined concept anyway. I don't think it describes the democratic party in any way shape or form. I think the term "progressive" describes the Democrats way better than liberal.

Liberal could be used to describe the republicans. They are spending liberally, and liberally doling out tax cuts to the rich, and liberally spending money on weapons systems that will likely never be used. Liberally supporting religion as a part of government. In this republican controlled congress the transportation bill has a record number of "earmarks" or special appropriations for pet projects...pork barrel money...as it is better known. This makes this congress one of the most liberal spenders and deficit builders in decades.

Yes the democratic party is the progressive party. We're for reducing spending, and targeted spending where it helps the economy, jobs and the standard of living for the people. The conservatives are for supporting corporations, outsourcing of jobs.

The democrats are for building consensus...they are the uniters. The republicans want us all to become what they are. They do not recognize that there are differences, and in essence they are dividers.
