that is scary; a web site just for bats.

prices for top-end bats are higher than they were several years ago because there's a lot more engineering in the bats. you can only have a minus three (-3) drop now in youth, high school and college, whereas minus 7 (-7) was common just 3-4 years ago. to account for the heavier bat (whereas before you could have a 33" bat that weighed only 26 oz, now the same bat must weigh 30) and thus reduced bat speed, the companies have been trying to make wider sweet spots and lessen the vibration in the bat. plus, in many states / leagues the bats must now be tested for exit velocity (an attempt to keep pitchers from getting killed).

the prices of the very low end bats are much reduced from prior years, though if your son was talented enough to play til he was 18 i doubt you were buying $39 bats.

Cheers
