Speaking of al-Sadr's newspaper, which was shut down by coalition forces last week after it urged violence against U.S. troops, Kerry complained to National Public Radio, "They shut a newspaper that belongs to a legitimate voice in Iraq." What would I say? I'd say he'd finally gone 'round the bend, and was delusional. Few points: "Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete." >>> Since Congress hasn't said this --- nor even been asked (Bush pushed the re-authorization of supplemental funds out past the elections... and told the military to 'make do' until then), I'd have to say the previous statement was clear evidence of mental disease... Possibly grounds for Cheney to take over. "foreign aid" >>> Small point --- the main purpose of 'foreign aid' is to promote the sale of our products, distribute 'surplus' store that we have built up through our crop subsidy programs so the taxpayers aren't stuck paying higher and higher amounts for our price-support corporate welfare programs, etc. >>> As a matter of fact --- we (along with Japan, the EU, etc.) extract MORE money from the third world (by under-pricing third world agricultural products with our massively subsidized prices) then we spend on ALL FOREIGN AID added together. Most of these countries would QUICKLY trade away all of their foreign aid support for an end to price subsidies in the industrialized world --- which price them out of markets. (Many of them made that exact point in the recent round of world trade talks.) "The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption." >>> Sounds GREAT! About time! "In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home." >>> LOL! It's going to take a lot more money then that!
