<<Clearly. Our Saudi allies were telling us that Saddam would fall, and we beleived them >>>

Major problem who to believe in the ME. Countries there probably trust each other as much as we can trust Arafat.

When they say Allah did this or Allah did that it denies responsibility.

If your cattle died it was the will of Allah, not the fact you did not feed them enough.

It was Allah that sent those WMD's to Iraq, as a result of Saddam carrying out Allah's order.

Cant blame Saddam or the Syrians who may thru a miracle discover their location someday.

I think by March 2003 they had been trucked to Syria. We gave Saddam a long time to prepare.

I believe Syria is very afraid of what would happen to them if any WMD that Saddam may have given them were traced to Syria after being used in some attack on the US. The Syrian regime will not allow just anything to happen in the country, unlike, say, Pakistan. What I mean is, it's fine by Syria if extremists make themselves a nuisance for Israel, but the regime is too interested in staying in power to try anything major that would leave a trail. I also suspect that Israel has a good handle on what's really going on in there, far better than we do. Whether any of that intel has been shared with us, I don't know, but I doubt that Israel would withhold something truly important. Not like France would in any event. [ If we think Chirac and de Villepin have been bad, just wait till the anti-capitalist socialists are back in power there.... if you've seen the results of their latest regionals, it won't be long. ]
