Ted,

re: John, civil war. Right now, the various groups have the US to hit over the head. If we leave, which Bush wants to do in the worst way.....he wants to wash his hands of the whole mess........then the country will fall into chaos.

Well, at least it's their chaos.

The overwhelming debate has been why did we get in in the first place. Putting that aside, why are we staying?

If it was truly WMD's, that question is answered. If it was SH's humanitarian record, we took care of that. SH is almost gone (what the hell happened to SH, is there going to be a trial?) So what is it now?

How many lives are we going to give up on both sides trying to establish some kind of mirror system to the US democracy? A square peg in a round hole?

The "insurgents" that are fighting us are not terrorists. These are people with fundamental differences in political and religious beliefs. We are the occupiers, trying to impose our system on an unwilling country.

So what do we do now?

John
