I never call Bush dumbya, shrub, the selected one, or whatever. I wouldn't expect Republicans to take my arguments seriously if i did. You really seem to be more interested in having a little fun insulting people than you are in discussing issues, as you claim. Since Kerry wants to send more troops into Iraq, i don't see how he's part of the cut and run crowd. Also, it's this Bush administration that failed to answer for the Cole bombing. Clinton conducted some overt and covert strikes against Al Qaeda. Bush did nothing before 9-11. I'll tell you where i think the Vietnam analogy applies. People like McCain are saying we could afford to leave Vietnam, but we can't afford to leave Iraq. That's kind of revisionist. At the time Vietnam was part of the war against Communism, we were fighting the domino effect. Now Iraq is supposedly the center-piece of the war on terrorism. It's hard to argue that the war against Communism was any less important than the war against terrorism. Isn't it possible that the war on Iraq will seem just as unimportant to the war on terror as the war in Vietnam now seems to the war against Communism? The problem, i think, is when we fight wars in terms of geo politics (the domino theory, reshaping the Middle East) we forget about the real facts on the ground. The facts on the ground beat us in Vietnam not the geo-politics. And it's the facts on the ground that are biting us in the ass today in Iraq, though it's far from clear how this will turn out.
