I don't know why Tom Friedman thinks that the UN would be one bit more "legitimate" to the Iraqis than the US.

Most people need a "standard of value" outside of themselves. "God" does it for the majority. The "UN" is it for the secular left. Doesn't matter if it is true. It is part of their litany.

They've seen the business end of the UN in the oil-for-food-scam.

Don't confuse the folks with facts, Nadine....! Some people just don't want to see them, even if it hits them right in the nose.

Today, we see the thousands of human remains, bones, in Africa from 10 years ago, and simply have to wonder where the UN was.
