Infosys forms firm to promote offshoring
NEW SUBSIDIARY BASED IN FREMONT

India's second-largest software company, Infosys Technologies, announced Thursday that it is expanding operations in Fremont with a new management-consulting subsidiary to advise technology companies on shipping software-development work offshore.

Infosys Consulting, a wholly owned subsidiary incorporated in Texas, plans to hire 50 to 75 consultants in its first year, said Lisa Kennedy, an Infosys spokeswoman at its U.S. headquarters in Fremont. The new company plans to recruit talent from established players in the technology-consulting industry, with a target of hiring 500 consultants over three years, Kennedy said.

The new jobs would be open to senior executives trained in business consulting, and not aimed at local technology workers, Kennedy said.
