The immortal poet John Keats taught that a clear mind without biases allows space for truth and beauty to thrive. In a mind-space open with impartial thought and ready for dialogue, solutions to problems appear. The same dictionary defines the word JINGO: noun (pl. -oes) dated, chiefly derogatory, a vociferous supporter of policy favoring war, especially in the name of patriotism. It is no accident that the word JINGO is banished from the modern idiom. Today in America, Bush and his minions invoke jingoistic and cynical slogans justifying the slaughter and war mongering that is unleashed upon the world. How many ways is it possible to shout “my way or the highway” or “you are with us or against us”? Listen to the hubris intoxicated illegitimate occupant in the White House to hear the many ways. This cruel codification of principles, Bush fulminates off the ciphers of his teleprompter with smirking glee and with threatening snarls. The sanctimonious, ominous coded meanings arouse the true believers. The armies of the Right and the Strong march in glorious unison for the glory the New American Century while the masses of America sleep in lethargic stupor – perhaps weary from overworking and overeating and overplaying – their brains stunned by staccato images and noises-storms blasted day and night from media circuses. It is frightening that silence and cowering acquiescence is America’s compliant response. You have no choice but to accept life under my terms or death and destruction is your fate! “The War on Terror is not a figure of speech. The War on Terror! - like a mantra from hell – the incantations “terror” –“war”- “evil” - “destroy” –“hatred” resound relentlessly , ruthlessly from the Bush junta. Is there any room for cultured discussion on Bush’s question? This question posits/frames only that the Iraqi’s are liberated and anyone who dares to begrudge that as fact is a traitor! Who is the who that Bush asks, who dares to wish for more mass graves and prefers the torture chambers to be still opened? If we oppose or disown the feverish Messianic ravings imposed on us by Bush – then are we in favor of these demonic blood feasts? Again, we hear Bush smearing any intelligent and common sense people and discourse that does not cower and grovel before his banner of war. Besmirching opponents as the alien other – prepares the non-neutral grounds for rendering reprisals and imprisonment in the Ashcroft and Scalia America. The fearful, Plutonic realms Bush imprints in our imaginations, he utters with sinister purpose. We must recognize the depraved psychology at work – this is very dangerous rhetoric! What sophists of language write his speeches! Implicit meanings carry as much weight as do direct statements. In the Machiavellian manipulations that rule the actions of the Bush junta – nuances actually convey more power. Can anyone argue if Iraq is liberated or not? No. In Bush’s universe, there is only my good and your evil! Bush imputes evil to all who dare not accept the good he has in store for us. “There is no neutral ground – there is no neutral ground”… “the fight between civilization and terror” is struggled on grounds soaked with human blood shed in war. Bush’s vision bestows this gift to us. “Violent thugs and murderers” - “we’re dealing with them” – is the only verb of intentionality in the above excerpts from his speech. His exaltation of power comes through in the brag “We’re dealing with them”. There is also the undertone that with all opponents – we will deal with you! From a dictator that controls the levers of the most awesome military/industrial/economic machine in the recorded history of the world – these words are not hollow. The thumping of marching storm troopers is vibrating in our bones already in America. The Patriot Act and the rapid consolidation of all enforcement police agencies on every level of government are not without pre-meditation. FEMA, the executive right arm of Bush reigns supreme with unlimited powers when the dreaded Red Alert strikes like lightening unexpectedly. Martial Law will be Bush’s exhilarating moment and apotheosis. The universe of Bush is a mad tyrannical fiefdom. “Who would wish that more mass graves were still being filled?” Of course, Bush is trying to say that his “War on Terror” saved the day for the Iraqi’s – let us just forget that America blasted a few tens of thousands of humans into ashes and one million more are dead from US lead sanctions. American hydra headed CIA operatives ploughed many killing fields on all inhabited continents of the world.. Today hundreds of million children suffer in despair without comfort, hope or understanding on fetid barren lands and in squalid slums, attributable in part to the exacerbations caused by American militarism and meddling policies on the world of nations. In this light of impartial history – we should examine the Bush diatribes. In the light of two years of proven deceptions and shameless lies – it is incredulous that Bush is not sitting in the dock awaiting impeachment and the prison cell.. It bodes us all to the abyss that this despot can harangue the ambassadors of 83 nations with a straight face without getting hissed and booed off the stage. What has happened to the United States of America? Only astonishment, satire and ridicule should meet the time tarnished hackneyed ranting offered by Bush. Should we look in the mirror and ask – is Bush the real personified face of us all? Neutral grounds cannot avail us in the choice Bush gives us; “The war on terror is not a figure of speech. It is an inescapable calling of our generation.” Freedom to Bush is that we submit to “inescapable calling” of the sirens of war. The venerable vice Cheney has pronounced with his imitable comforting tones that we must look forward to generations of war and strife. He is not kidding. Chaos and war suits the totalitarianism they have in store for America and the world. Slavery is the template of freedom for all they despise and hate. Only the elites are safe in their scenarios. The chilling truth is before us now. What is neutral ground really in practical terms? Is it not a place where inclusive tolerance permits human exchange and interpenetration in relaxed if not joyously creative ways? Bush will have none of that. His supercharged ground is the glorified battlefield. Terrorists must exterminate victims and torture free nations to satisfy their unholy lust for blood. To postulate otherwise may raise the nasty business of finding responsibility for actions that gave rise to terrorism in the first place. Truth is anathema to Bush.
