Excellent analysis jtt. You have got the theory I'd figured out and extended it. I hadn't made it systematic to the extent of feeding ego two layers up and ambition one layer up. Good point. I've long realized that the main qualification for being top dog is an intense desire to be there. I wonder if those who get there realize how animalistic their motivations are - the dominant characteristic of animal social orders is a desire to be the alpha beast. Catch 22 is that anyone who wants to be leader is unfit to be so. Mqurice

In an intercepted speech or tape. Any other source would be second hand information and be exceedingly difficult to trust or work with. OBL says "On Sept 11 I will highjack an airplane ect,ect .." The date, time, place- the whole bundle Assume you manage to convince your superiors, and the CIA, and all other higher ups. Yup, thats OBL's voice, thats what he says . And they agree to do something. The first thing may be to shut down a majority of the airlines in the US beginning at dawn , which even then may be too late. Which will cost billions of dollars and cause the airline execs to scream along with the public. Playing it safe you also tell the 50,000 people working in the WTC to stay home until further notice and duplicate all their records before doing so. So Sept 1 st comes along and we have approval to implement a defensive plan but before we are ready ....... Whamo, OBL carries out his attack on Sept 2 Or: Sept 11 comes along and nothing happens A week goes by and still nothing.You have spent billions in lost air travel and wages etc. You tell everyone to go back to work and just after you do that- Blamo- Mr. OBL strikes. If the originator of the warning has called it wrong, his name is mud, he is out of a job, he will never work for the government again. And the Administration will have to admit they spent billions on a "hot tip" What I am saying is that nothing OBL says and nothing that Al Queda members say can ever be trusted. They lie. They can and will change plans or dates or cities at will. Complicated plots can often be foiled. Perhaps the 911 attack could have been uncovered. But if the 4 separate crews were not aware of what the other crews we planning,we would have had to know the total number of highjackers and capture all 20. Only 1 of those airplanes could have been taken down one of the towers. Which by itself would have been enough to wake the country up. Summary: Defensive measures are not enough. Knowing plans helps but is not enough. Destroying the terrorists will be the most effective measure. Sig
