In the spirit of national unity, they should shut the f up, don't you think? At least until the current hostilities subside.

I think Saddam Hussein would agree! That is why he silenced a lot of his critics during the 8 year-long Iran-Iraq war.

No, I don't think Kennedy and Kerry should STFU.

But you know I'd say that. :-)

They're not violating national security. They're expressing the feelings of hundreds of thousands of Americans who, feel that the way the Bush administration is handling Iraq is misguided.

Which you also know.

In an earlier day, the entire country would have STFU because they would have instantly sensed the need for a united front in the face of the enemy. That all came to a crashing halt when leftists, including John Kerry, openly, viciously and repeatedly attacked our troops in the press during the Vietnam era. Today, these same leftists (and now their children), are doing as they did then, except they claim to support the troops while defaming everything the troops are doing.

Kerry should STFU because it is the American thing to do. The enemy should nt be given even the slightest shred of encouragement. Criticism is justified. But what Kerry and his fellow leftists are doing goes beyond criticism.

I say, let them continue to help the enemy. Hopefully the GOP will be able to take their hyper-critical statements, artfully match it to the enemy's quotations thereby showing how the leftists are harming the nation rather than getting behind it. If they can do this with slickness enough to capture America's dwindling attention span, they will cause a nice backlash against these anti-American leftist outbursts. Leftists ought to be free to speak as they wish. But they can perhaps be made to suffer the political consequences of their speech.
