You were right, it was the Faure Requiem. I just played the Agnus Dei on my laptop using Windows Media Player. Played around with the built in light shows while listening (new toy) and came across one called "ambience: Niagara" that - and I wasn't looking for this at all - reminded me of the WTC only in motion. Hard to describe. One tower of light, then two.

This is the Orchestra of the Paris Conservatory version, with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau as baritone. Very moving, but not as soul-wrenching as the choir in St. Patrick's Cathedral on September 16, 2001. I'd like to find a copy of that . . . . made the little hairs on my arms stand up.
