Every mistake Bush makes, and he has made thousands, brings more recruits to the cause. Thanks to Bush, we have lost the goodwill of the world after 911. Totally blown. Most of the rest of the world rightfully wants nothing to do with this mess. It is costing the US enormous sums of money that we do not have, fighting an enemy that knows how to hide. In fact we went after a meaningless target. Hussein was no threat to us or anyone else. Who knows what kind of leader Iraq will have 3 years down the road. Hussein was a secular leader and Bin Laden wanted him overthrown for a religious one. It sure looks like we did Bin Laden's work for him. We stirred up the radicals in Iraq better than he could have done for himself. I am positive that if Bin Laden is still alive, that he is laughing his ass off at the mess he made. His war is an attempt to spend us into the ground. He is in fact succeeding. I bet we have wasted $300 Billion $ in Iraq (although the gov’t figures are much lower of course). And exactly what have we accomplished? We got rid of a secular leader, an admittedly evil person, but one that posed ZERO threat to the US. Now Iraq is on the verge of a civil war, we will have to spend more money and more troops to "fix it" whatever that means. On the Motley Fool people are calling for the US to use all its might to "terminate" this problem. They want more mosques to be blown up if that is where the terrorists are hiding. Well if I was a terrorist where would I hide? In a mosque of course. Now, we get rid of a handful of terrorists by blowing up another mosque and how many more terrorists will that create in their place? They WANT this violence to escalate. They WANT Bush to win. Economically and militarily we are spread too thin. Just as Reagan spent Russia into oblivion, it is obvious (or should be) that their intent is to do the same to us. Well the US can not afford to be the world's policeman. We must use our military might wisely. The decision to go into Iraq over trumped up WOMD lies was a piss poor one. Since then, we changed the reason to humanitarian purposes. Well judging from outbreaks in 16 cities, how Shiites and Sunnis are now in union against the US, and how thousands of Iraqis broke thru US military lines in support of the rebellion (or whatever you want to call it), it appears they do not want our help. Why should they want our help. There is more violence, more destruction, and more terrorism there now than before. How much will it cost to quell that? Back to Bush. No doubt he is moronic enough to try. More troops more cost, no results but more pain, agony, death, and more billions wasted in a war that was never ours in the first place. The lesson of Vietnam should have been learned. That lesson was do not meddle in the internal affairs of other countries. Not only did we not learn that lesson, we went into a political and religious hotbed as well under misguided "democracy building". It is NOT the US's mission in this world to attempt to FORCE a certain government style on another people. As long as we keep attempting to arrogantly force our view of things down the world's throat we will continue to waste billions and trillions of dollars we do not have and certainly can not affort. Making mistakes like Bush has made, can bring the US to its economic knees. That is their clear intention, and this administration does not even see it. Our foolish strike at the wrong target, Hussein, delayed us from capturing more of the true threat and cost of Billions of dollars, and hundreds of lives, and stirred up more terrorism to boot. Bush policies will ensure more hatred of the US, stir up more terrorists, and spend us into the ground. Rest assured, Bin Laden wants Bush re-elected if he is still alive. Mish
