>>> It sure looks like Kerry is going to conclude that the admin COULD have stopped 911 in its tracks by going after flight schools and distributing information that had been rolled up...."<<< At the very least, at the very minimum, in all prudence, given the clear and specific warning of the intelligence briefing entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States" (today's blockbuster from the hearings), interceptor jets should have been on a heightened alert, not necessarily nationwide, but specifically for the New York and Washington areas. New York because of prior Al Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center, and Washington because Washington is, well, Washington. Those planes never should have been allowed to travel down the Hudson River, as they did. And given that the Pentagon disaster happened well after the New York disaster, planes should have been readied there as well.
