Well, Canada Customs has uneducated employees who give their supervisors headaches. Anti semitic incidents in Canada. As you might expect, most of them have taken place in or near to areas with Muslim communities. Quebec also has a history of anti semitism. How is it going to shake out? The new Canadian justice minister is a Jew and the school he went to in Montreal was just set afire by some idiots who claimed it was revenge for the killing of Yassin.... Front page story in both national newspapers. PM, Paul Martin, is a native of Montreal, also. I'm sure the federal government has an agenda, even if it didn't have one a couple of weeks ago. Charest, the Premier of Quebec was apoplectic. I expect RCMP, CSIS and the Surete de Quebec have been given marching orders. The Liberal party has always courted immigrant groups - that is what the so-called multiculturalism in Canada is about. So it has always been kind of soft when dealing groups which have a focus outside the country. Chretien never did have any principles when it came buddying up to more questionnable of these - anything for a vote. Martin, on the other hand, as far as I know, hasn't been as louche. In any case the Conservatives in Canada are getting stronger and are likely to keep Martin's feet to the fire with respect to the terrorism matter. The crap on the campuses. Same problem as you have in the US. Same solution keep attacking the retiring lefties and replace them with more sensible folk.
