Senators Feinstein (D) and Warner (R) on the tube last night both said Clarke is a tough, smart, straight shooter whose work they had valued and trusted. Seems to be the consensus on him. Not a fawning loyalist like Rice, but an independent thinker working for the good of the country.

Bush messed up big-time.
